4 COVID-Friendly Ways to Celebrate Halloween

Trick or Treating may not be the safest way to celebrate Halloween this year but that does not mean the holiday is canceled.

If the idea of going trick or treating with your children is not comfortable and may not feel like it is the safest thing to do, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways for you to celebrate this Halloween as a family and still have fun.

Backyard Halloween Candy Scavenger Hunt

Halloween Candy.

Here’s a fun twist to trick or treating! Instead of going house to house and asking for candy, you can set up a scavenger hunt in your own backyard or even inside your house! You can hide candy in hard-to-find places and leave clues all around the house to help your family and friends. This is a creative way to enjoy your Halloween by coming up with spooky riddles to confuse everyone about where the candy is. It is definitely a fun game for the kids!

Small Family/Friends Party

Get some close family and friends together for an intimate Halloween party.

For safety reasons, a lot of Halloween parties have been canceled and should not even be considered right now. It is not a good idea to go to an event with a large number of people especially a party. Instead, we recommend you have a few close friends and family over to celebrate. You can do the regular Halloween festivities such as transform your home into a haunted house or just listen to music and play fun board games with the people you’re closest to.

Watch Scary Halloween Movies

Watch scary movies.

Everyone secretly loves to watch scary movies. Even the people who get scared the most enjoy the thrill and adrenaline rush of watching a horror or thriller film. It is fun to watch scary movies with a group of people. You can gather your family and friends into the living room and put on some classics or even the latest scary movies to get into the spooky spirit of Halloween. Here are 3 family-friendly Halloween movies we recommend as well as 3 scary movies for the horror-fanatic:

  • The Addams Family

  • Hotel Transylvania

  • The Corpse Bride

  • Get Out

  • The Shining

  • A Quiet Place

Bake Halloween Treats

Halloween-themed baked goods!

Baking may seem hard but it is actually a super fun activity to do! You and your family can look up easy recipes for Halloween-themed cookies, cupcakes, and other goodies. This is a great way to celebrate the holiday with the family and even your close friends. Make your own goodies at home since it is not the best idea to be going door-to-door asking for candy this year.
