12 TIPS ON HOW TO SETUP AND HOST A ZOOM BEAUTY TRAINING
Zoom has made it easier for people to hold meetings, and take lessons virtually from the comfort of their homes. Whatever your niche may be, you can easily organize and take lessons using zoom while also getting paid for your services. As a result of this, a lot of people are setting up lessons and tutorials for individuals and groups using the platform.
Many Beauty Pros have taken to the web to combat this social distancing and postponements of in-person work! Hey, if you can’t go to them, have them come to you, right in your home via the web!
If you are a beauty expert/professional looking to get set up on zoom, below are 12 tips to help you get set up right!
TIP 1: INSTALL & SET UP
Install zoom on your PC or mobile depending on which one you will be using (PC is recommended as it provides larger visual coverage than phones), then proceed to sign up. Fill up all the required brackets on the registration page and proceed to pick an account option.
TIP 2: SELECT YOUR PLAN
There are two zoom account options available:
Zoom Basic: This option is free and it allows you to host a maximum of 100 participants in a group video conference for a maximum duration of 40 minutes. You also get an unlimited 1:1 meeting. This is great for start-ups; however, you can only hold the class for a maximum of 40 minutes.
Zoom Pro: This option costs $15 per month. But with this option, there’s no time limit, and you can also record your sessions for future use. The option also offers user management if you’re going to be sharing accounts with other users.
TIP 3: HOW TO SET UP YOUR FIRST MEETING & TEST!
On the desktop select the Zoom application and choose to "Sign In".
Use your password and email to log in. Google account or Facebook can also be used.
Select the downward arrow from where you should be able to select "Start with Video". Once this is done choose "New Meeting" so that the instant Beauty Consultation you wanted can begin.
The built-in scheduling function ties into Google calendar and iCal, this makes organizing meetings much easier.
Note that you can choose to "Start without video" if you want voice only or simply "Start with video" if your intention is having a video meeting.
Have a friend be your first participant and “Zoom” with them and have fun with the features!
TIP 4: SET UP PACKAGES
People really want to support you right now. Consider offering packages that include access to, say, five Zoom classes plus an in-person class when this is all over. It’s a good way to make some extra money upfront when you need it. Or you can start with a buy one get one free class. Remember, the goal is to provide value so they keep coming back!
TIP 5: Collecting Payments
There are various platforms you can get your clients to pay through. They include Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Stripe, Square, and many other payment platforms. All you need to do is integrate the payment platform with the scheduled meeting, so when clients click on the link to register for the class, they get directed to the payment page where they will be required to pay an amount pre-determined by you before they can register for the class.
TIP 6: Let Clients Know You’re Going Online
Once you’re all set up with your Zoom account and have figured out which classes you’re going to offer. We would recommend sending an email to your client list letting them know that you’re now offering online classes. Don’t forget to include instructions on how they can sign up for each one going forward! You can also, click “copy invitation” and share the URL via any platform of your choice. You should know that people won’t just click your URL when you share it. You have to put up a captivating description. As a caption for the URL, give a little description of what will be discussed during the class and what the clients are going to gain by partaking in the class.
TIP 7: Set Up You’re At-Home Studio Space
Before you teach your Beauty Consultation, set up space, and test your camera and mic to make sure everyone can see and hear you as you’re demonstrating moves. Since 1:1s on Zoom are included, we highly recommend asking a friend or colleague to run a test with you to make sure everything looks great before you start your Beauty Consultation. PRO TIP: You can log into your zoom call from your cell phone which will most likely have a higher resolution than your computer camera and then you can log in from your computer to have a larger screen to see yourself. Also remember to have a mirror handy. It will save the day!
TIP 8: Your 1:1 Session
After Scheduling and inviting clients to the meeting, prepare your tutorial outline, and ensure that you have everything you will need for the class on hand. Follow the outline during the class and you will have no trouble giving out the lessons.
Allow for 5-10 minutes at the beginning of your private 60-minute session with your clients to talk through the problems they may be experiencing with their skin, hair, nails, or whatever your specialty is. While you may not be able to directly fix their problems right there, you can create custom recommendations for them, you can even sell products to them.
Then delve into their topic of choice which you had preselected before the class. This will also lend to ideas of future lessons that you can give them.
For larger groups, select the “mute participants upon entry option”, this way you won’t have to worry about background noise from the participants and they will have to unmute their mics if they want to talk.
TIP 9: BRING YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD
Make sure you look good. You will be giving people beauty tricks and hacks, you definitely have to be a visual representation of what you are teaching them.
Pay attention to how you are dressed and your skin and makeup if you choose to wear any with immediately set a tone for your lesson. They will know if they are learning from an “expert” or “amateur”. There is no manual on how to dress for your class or how to present your points, but it is imperative that you are able to capture and hold on to the attentions of your clients. It is a beauty session, you should let them practice what you’re teaching while you are teaching them, this will allow for better learning and you can easily give corrections when someone is doing something wrong. That’s one of the best things about Zoom — you can see when someone drops their butt during plank, Lol!
TIP 10: If You’re Using Zoom Pro, Share the Replay
We all have a lot of time on our hands. Consider sending a replay to attendees, so they can revisit class between sessions. If you’re tech-savvy, you can also get creative with selling these videos for a few dollars on your site to people who couldn’t attend.
TIP 11: Send Reminders
Use the Email Client Feature: Using this feature, you can easily deliver a unique zoom link for each class or appointment to your clients, so they get reminded of the schedule for the next class and they can use the same link to join the class. (Available with Zoom Pro)
TIP 12: Incentives
Give incentives. This may be before, during, or after the class. You can make your first class free for all participants, you can give freebies during the class or give special sessions to outstanding participants of the previous class.
