10 Winter Beauty and Skincare Tips!
Get those winter foundation shades ready ladies!
Skincare and makeup routines can differ depending on the weather. As the seasons change, so do our complexion and skin texture. Summer was for our tan skin tones and dewy, lighter-toned looks. Fall and Winter is when the dark, bolder tones stand out. You also want to keep in mind that as cold weather arises, your skin may get more dry than usual and you must make sure to take care of it by moisturizing it daily. Here are 10 tips to follow for this winter!
Stay Hydrated
Winter is known to cause dry skin due to the cold, freezing temperatures. You have to do everything you can to make sure your skin is not cracking or damaged from the excessive coldness. A significant step to healthy skin is hydration and drinking tons of water every day. Researchers say to cut your weight in half and drink that many mL of water a day. This is how you know your body is getting enough water and it keeps your skin hydrated and reduces any chance of dryness. Staying hydrated also keeps your lips from being chapped, allowing them to remain nice and plump.

Moisturize Daily!
A lot of people tend to forget to moisturize every day and do not realize how it is affecting their skin. Especially in the winter, your skin needs lotion to hydrate it and repair any dead skin or dryness. The skin on our face is way more sensitive than on the rest of our body and cold weather can cause it to become even more damaged and cracked. Pick a lotion or moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid and dimethicone, which are strong ingredients that actively work to keep your skin hydrated and feeling rejuvenated.
Our favorite moisturizers are Artistry Youth Xtend System and the Supreme LX Moisturizer.
Create A Winter Skincare Routine
Your skin may react differently to certain products depending on the weather. This means that you should create a whole new skincare routine than your normal one, which contains products that adhere to your skin when it is more sensitive or prone to dryness. Make sure to adopt a heavy cream or moisturizer in this routine that must be applied daily after cleansing your face and toning it. You can even wear face masks every night before going to bed to keep your skin moist!
Use Lip Balm!
We’ve all been there. As soon as the cold weather kicks in, our lips begin to crack and get chapped. A simple solution to this burden is lip balm. Your lips need to be taken care of just as much as your skin! Apply a lip balm with great moisturizing ingredients, such as Chapstick or Aquaphor. Aquaphor is a great brand that uses hydrating products, giving your lips that cooling sensation. Vaseline is also a popular item many people use and is heavy on the lips but does an amazing job at preventing any cracks or dryness.
Take Hot Showers & Baths
By taking hot showers and baths, you are allowing the steam to open up your pores and relax, as you can easily clean out any of the trapped dirt and oil from the skin. In the winter, our pores are often clogged due to the cold weather which leads to various skin problems such as acne and oil buildup. By sitting in a nice, warm bath or shower every night, your skin is slowly opening up its pores and clearing the dirt that has built up throughout the day.
Moisturize Before Applying Makeup
It is best for your skin if you start your makeup routine off by applying lotion or some type of moisturizer that may keep your skin hydrated amongst the layers of makeup you are going to have on throughout the day. It is difficult enough to keep your skin protected from the dry, cold weather of winter. You definitely don’t want your makeup to be drying out your skin or causing any unwanted acne or skincare issues.
We recommend you use facial oils as well. Facial oils are extremely hydrating and rejuvenate your skin, making it feel healthy and glowing. We love the Elizabeth Arden Vitamin C Capsules:
Don’t Use Too Many Makeup Powders
Low humidity means dry skin, which means applying powders can make your complexion look cakey and too “over-the-top.” You want to make sure your skin looks smooth and hydrated, so when applying blush, bronzers, or even setting powders make sure to lightly apply these items and not excessively cover your cheeks in powder. Powdered makeup can dry out your skin and clog your pores even more, which will lead to acne and even more burdens for your skin.
Go For A Bold & Darker Lip
Winter is a time where people start to wear bolder lip colors such as browns, dark reds, and even purples. This is such an iconic look and will keep you looking gorgeous and in style! Dark lip colors are not trending all year long so winter is a perfect time to experiment and get out of your comfort zone by applying a pop of color to your lips! Some trending lip colors for this winter are Oxblood red, Violet, and any Matte lip colors. Matte makeup looks are popular in winter and you are going to look fabulous with any of these gorgeous shades!

Wear Maroon Makeup
L’Oréal has stated how maroon is a color that will never be out of style and looks stunning on everyone. A great way to flaunt this gorgeous color is through eyeshadow or even lipstick. After applying a lighter, brown tone on the lid, you should apply a maroon shadow on the crease and outer edge of your eye to create a sultry makeup look. Having dark lips is also an iconic winter makeup look. This isn’t summer anymore, dark colors are in style again!

Bold Eyebrows Are Trending
A final popular winter makeup trend is bold and thick eyebrows. Try experimenting with your brows if you haven’t this winter by filling them in a little and seeing if you can shape them. A lot of people like to use eyebrow gel and lock those hairs in place after filling them. When filling in your brows make sure to pick the right shade so that you do not look like you went. Overboard. If you have very dark, black hair, choose a brown shade to fill your brows in with. A lot of people tend to fill in their eyebrows with an ebony or black shade which ends up making them look like blocks!
We hope your skin stays nice and hydrated this winter! Let loose and experiment this year by trying these makeup looks and going for more pops of color and darker tones.
