5 Things You Should NOT Do When Getting Your Makeup Done
Getting your makeup done should be a fun, relaxing experiencing. With that being said there are some do’s and don’ts when getting your makeup done. It is important that you prepare (as the client) just as much as the artist does. There is nothing worse than when an artist does your makeup differently than what you asked for, or you don’t give a clear description of what you are looking for. I have made a list of 5 things that you should do when getting your makeup done to avoid any confusion or troubles!
Do NOT assume your artist knows what you want! Come in with a clear image of you are looking for because what you describe can be a completely different vision to the artist. Showing a pictures allows your artist to see a visual of exactly what you so they can replicate it with no doubt at all!
Do NOT wax your face the day of. When you get your face waxed there is swelling and redness caused to your skin. This will make it difficult for your artist to get a true sense of your skin tone to match colors and make it difficult to highlight certain features on your face because they are swollen and not in its normal state. In addition, waxing can cause irritation to your face; therefore, it is not in your best interest to put makeup on top of already irritated skin.
Do NOT come with an unwashed face! It is important that your artist has a clean face to work with to allow the products to go on smoothly and sink into your skin. If your face is greasy then the products will slide around and not stick to your face leaving you with an oily appearance. If your face is dry and not properly moisturized your makeup will appear cakey.
Be Open Minded and Take Suggestions: Makeup artists have performed makeup on individuals that are all completely different. With that being said, they might know a thing or two about what will look best on you. Just because something looks great on someone else, it might not look the best on you. Makeup artists are there to make you look your best and they are going to highlight your unique features in order to do that. It is important that you trust your hired artist in order to do this.
Focus on one part of your face: Having a crazy, bold lip color and also a strong eyeshadow can lead you down the wrong path. It is important that you pick one to focus on and compliment the other. It is completely your choice on where you want your attention drawn to. Less is always more! You can always add more but it is harder to go in reverse!
