How To Prepare For Your Bridal Appointment
Hi Cinderella’s!!! Getting the perfect look for your big day can be stressful right?? But it definitely doesn’t have to be.The perfect makeup look is important but also being prepared for your appointment is just as important too. Knowing how to be prepared will make everything go much more smoothly so you have more time to be excited than stressed about the day.
Here’s your ultimate guide to preparing for your bridal appointment so that you feel relaxed, confident, and ready for your magical day!!
1. Book Your Consultation at Least 3-4 Months Before the Big Day
We get it, wedding planning can get a little hectic. But one of the first things you’ll want to do once you’ve locked in your wedding date is book your bridal appointment and bridal consultation. Ideally, book the consultation at least 3-4 months prior to the wedding. That way, you’ve got plenty of time to look for any makeup inspiration and test out anything you want to try. We can also give any tips and advice needed for any concerns you may have such as skin, hair, and even teeth care!!!
Giving yourself a good window of time helps reduce the stress and makes the whole process feel more relaxed. If you wait too long, you may risk being too rushed and overwhelmed, and no one wants to feel that pressure when they’re looking for the perfect look!
2. Book Your Appointment at Least 1 Year Before the Big Day
Booking your actual Bridal appointment should be made at least 1 year prior to the actual wedding date. This way we can make sure there is availability for us to book you in advance and it is a stress you can get rid of early on.
Once wedding planning is in full force it can be easy to forget even a big thing such as hair and makeup. We want you to be prepared and relaxed on an important day. Just enjoy the process and book a year ahead to get that peace of mind!
3. Wash and Blow Dry Your Hair (But Don’t Flat Iron It!)
When it comes to getting your hair ready for your bridal appointment, there’s a little prep work you’ll want to do. A day or two before your appointment, wash your hair and give it a nice blowout. It should be styled 18-24 hours prior to your appointment, so don’t wait until the last minute to do this! The washed hair with a blown out is great because it gives you a little more volume and texture, making it easier for your stylist to work with when doing your hair.
But don’t flat iron your hair, please! Flat-ironed hair can be a bit too sleek and flat for some styles, and you’ll want your hair to have a little natural body and bounce. So, just a blow-dry and maybe some loose waves, if that’s your vibe, and you’ll be good to go.
4. Exfoliate and Moisturize for a Glowing Face
When you’re about to put on makeup you want it to look perfect and flawless, right? Well, that starts with your skin! Exfoliate your face the night before your bridal appointment to give yourself a smooth, glowing canvas. This helps to get rid of any dry patches, leaving you with skin that looks refreshed and radiant in the morning.
On the day of the appointment, make sure you cleanse and moisturize before you head out. Your skin will thank you, and you’ll feel even more confident when you step in front of the mirror. After all, you want to feel like you’re glowing from head to toe!
5. A Little Skin TLC Goes a Long Way
If you have textured or problematic skin and you know your wedding day is fast approaching, it’s a good idea to start working with a skincare professional. It might not make a huge difference in just a few weeks, but getting your skin on a consistent routine now can set you up for a healthier complexion by your wedding day.
If you’re concerned about acne, uneven texture, or anything else that’s making your skin feel less than flawless, talk to a pro early on. This is also why a consultation is essential early on so you can discuss any skin concerns. You’ll be so glad you did when it’s time to have all eyes on you, and your skin is glowing like it’s meant to be!
6. Dress Comfortably: Top Layers Matter
We know how fun it can be to get dolled up for your bridal appointment, but remember, comfort is key when getting your makeup done. We recommend wearing a blouse and necklace that you feel good in something that’s comfortable but still reflects your style. It also lets us know exactly where jewlary will be placed so no makeup gets on them. Then, throw on a button-up shirt or robe on top to keep things easy when you are ready to change.
This way, you’re all set to slip in and out of your outfits without worrying about smearing any makeup on them or messing up your accessories. Plus, being comfortable will keep your energy up, and you’ll have more fun getting ready!
7. Don’t Forget to Communicate Your Allergies
We know, allergies aren’t the most glamorous topic, but they’re so important to mention to your artist before starting anything! Whether it’s a fragrance sensitivity or a latex allergy, it’s always better to be upfront and make sure everyone is on the same page.
This ensures that there won’t be any surprises when it comes to hair products, makeup, or anything else. The more information your team has, the better they’ll be able to give you the most fabulous bridal look without compromising your health or comfort. Communication is key!
8. Hair Extensions: Better to Be Prepared!
For brides who want a little extra volume or length, hair extensions might be in the cards. If you’re planning to leave your hair out or want a little added glamour, it’s a good idea to have your extensions ready ahead of time.
But a quick heads up, new hair extensions (depending on the brand) sometimes need to be washed before they’re used. So if you’re purchasing them, read the instructions and make sure you’ve got a chance to wash them before your appointment if it says to do so. Extensions that haven’t been washed yet, and need to be, can feel a little too silky and difficult to work with, so getting them prepped is essential!
We don’t require you to bring the extensions to the consultation unless you want to show us what you are going to use. If you’re unsure about extensions or how they’ll work with your wedding look, feel free to email us with any questions. We’re here to help!
